Tips To Get a Great Picture: Landscape Photography

Here are a few tips for photographing landscapes that you will want to learn. If you keep them in mind, then next time you're on vacation you'll be able to take Instagram-worthy pictures.

Alright, first of all, you'll want to find a strong point of interest and an interesting object in the foreground to really make the photograph stand out. This will provide people with a place to rest their eyes in the picture, and it will add depth and perspective to your photograph. When shooting outdoors, you should always turn off your flash and use natural lighting instead. The best light is usually during the morning or late in the afternoon when the sun is really low.

Another tip is to not place the point of interest dead-center in the frame. Instead, place it to the sides. This will make the photograph more interesting to look at and it'll have a nice background to go along with it. If what you're photographing is a building, like a castle or a fort, you might want to consider including people for scale. This way you can really show how monumentally big the building actually is. Also, try to avoid distractions such as objects in the foreground that are not relevant to the main subject. For example, if you're photographing a building, you're going to want to avoid unnecessary objects that might distract viewers from the building itself. These could range from a light pole that can block the view to a car passing by.

I hope these tips were useful to you. I know the pictures of your next trip will me amazing!

Tips To Get a Great Picture: Animal Photography

We all know how pets or animals in general can't stay still, making it very difficult to get a great picture. It usually ends up either out of focus, with the wrong lighting, or with an awkward pose, if it's not all of the above.
So, in this post I will give you some tips on how to get the perfect picture of your pet, so you can frame it and put it up on a wall.

  1. You have to be patient. Animals aren't like people: they won't understand (unless you've trained them well) if you tell them to sit still. They will be all over the place, so you have to be patient and understand that this could take 5 minutes or 2 hours. You just have to wait for the right time to snap the perfect photo.
  2. Focus their attention with toys or stuff they like that might keep them seated long enough for you to take a picture.
  3. You'll want to photograph your pet at eye level. Eye contact works just as well for pets and animals as it does for people. Your pet might even feel more comfortable knowing you're both at the same level.
  4. Make sure your pet fits into your camera's screen, so that your picture will have a greater impact. Either step close to them or zoom all the way in to make your pet the center of attention.
  5. If your pet can't sit still, consider letting them play and snap a picture of them. Set the speed on your camera at 400 or 800 to be able to capture a clear picture and not a blurry one where you can't really see what's going on.
  6. No picture is ever great on the first try. Especially with animals (and children) you will have to take lots of pictures, that way you make sure at least one of them will be what you wanted. Shoot in burst mode if you have to.
I hope this helps you get the perfect picture of your pet.

Good luck and Merry Christmas!
